This winter term of 2020 THAT! Ensemble has been exploring a collaboration with sound artist, Nuno Veiga, combining our signature voice and movement with electronics, text, and sound. On February 15th, we debuted Changes at Hundred Years Gallery, a piece made in response to the photography exhibition by local artist Mervyn Syna about development in Shoreditch. Further development of the piece yielded Built Human, which we performed at the Biscuit Cafe on March 5th. This was our first time exploring how to combine our non-augmented voices with electronics and we are so happy with the results. We are sad that Nuno Veiga will shortly be moving back to Portugal, but we’re confident we will continue to work with him, as well as with other sound artists.
