SOURCE is a new album of collaborative vocal improv by the Wellspring Collective, to be released on Lalala Records in 2022
In May 2021, Kate Mellors, Emma Coleman, and Kate Smith met for one day in London to explore different starting points as inspiration for collective vocal improvisation. These ranged from vocal techniques, such as 'slides' and 'in-breath' to genre, like 'village call' and 'lullaby', to roles such as 'solo' and 'support'. Coming from different cities, and never having sung together as a trio, this project truly captures the makings of one day, a moment in time.
Wellspring Collective - A UK-based collective of female-identifying singers brought together by a shared interest in the art form and practice of collaborative vocal improvisation.
