Theatre & Dance Consultancy

Kate sometimes works as a creative consultant for theatre and dance, including training and devising.

She had the pleasure to work with Cyphers Theatre Company on multiple occasions, joining their summer school as a voice and movement teacher, as well as working on developing sound and music for their play Northanger Abbey developed throughout 2017 to 2018. Over the course of several sessions, Kate helped the actors explore vocal range, sounds, and colours – the aim being to help them bridge the perceived chasm between singing and speaking (often the challenge for actors). She also facilitated the creation of simple 3 part choral music to augment certain scenes.

In 2019 Kate was asked to lead a day of research and development with dancer and choreographer Sophie Nuzel as part of her piece The Little Watersprite. Funded by Greenwich Dance, Kate and Sophie spent a day leading open workshops at the Greenwich Library, working with text, pairing with movement, exploring distances, stations, sonic textures, and more.

Kate was also hired by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to teach a class on Musicality to 1st year Drama students in the fall of 2018. Kate used movement and voice to help the students develop an embodied understanding of various aspects of music, as well as facilitated their own creative music-making process.
