Kate was the Director of Hackney One Voice from its inception in 2018 until the fall of 2020. Hackney One Voice is an intergenerational choir that met in Homerton Library every Saturday morning. Free to join, the choir is a real asset to the community.
“The vision for Hackney One Voice was to create an activity that anyone can join in with irrespective of age, gender, race, religion, income, ability or disability. It’s aim is to prevent social isolation and promote physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.” - choir organizer Leila Zebiri.
The ‘incredibly popular’ community choir was funded by Hackney Council’s small grants and National Lottery Awards For All. While under Kate’s direction, Hackney One Voice performed at the Round Chapel in lower Clapton for International Women’s Day as well as at local nursing homes and Chatsworth Road Market.
